Established in 2018, New York–based label Commission blends Dylan Cao and Jin Kay’s East Asian heritage with Western tailoring, drawing inspiration from the wardrobes of Asian working mothers in the ’80s and ’90s. As first-generation immigrants and Parsons graduates, the designers created Commission as a deeply personal project and a space for authentic East Asian representation in fashion. Their collections reimagine everyday officewear with a nostalgic yet contemporary edge—think fitted pencil skirts, sharp pantsuits, oversized blazers, and fluid slip dresses. Commission is a tribute to the strength, elegance, and quiet style of the Asian women who shaped their world.
